A Strong Distrust of Sex Addiction

Two of the guests on CNN have so far expressed a suspscion both of sex addiction. Golf legend Nick Faldo says he can’t imagine Tiger Woods taking instructions from “a man in a white coat,” while the long-haired feller with Tony Harris said that he didn’t believe in sex addiction, and that Tiger’s time spent discussing his therapy seemed like a dodge — the implication being that real man would just own up to his faults and then stop doing them.

There’s been a lot of coverage on this topic — the question “does sex addiction really exist” is a web hed for about a dozen local and national news articles. On Slate (which like NEWSWEEK, areowned by the Washington Post Co.) over the past few months, there have been two views: one, that sex addiction is just a cover for abhorrent behavior, and one that sex addiction is, at the very least, a way to publicly discuss the bad behavior of unfaithful spouses.
